BMW of Bridgewater is urgently looking to hire an experienced Automotive Service Advisor with a track record of great performance.

We are family owned and operated under the same ownership for the last 20+ years.

This position pays $75,000 - $110,000+ a year based off experience. Your customer service expertise and selling skills will influence the volume of your service business and play a key role in insuring customer satisfaction. We also offer excellent compensation as well as monthly bonus opportunities based on performance.

Our dealership family has been expanding and diversifying over the years and we are looking for the best in the industry to join our team.

 Essential Duties

  • Advises customers about necessary service for routine maintenance.
  • Helps identify a mechanical problem by interviewing the customer.
  • Confers with customers about inspection results, recommend corrective procedures and prepare work order for needed repairs.
  • Prepares a repair order showing time, cost, and labor estimates for service.
  • Writes a brief description of the customer's concern on the repair order to help the technician locate the problem.
  • Explains the work performed and the repair order charges to the customer.
  • Obtains customer and vehicle data prior to arrival when possible.
  • Refers to service history, inspects vehicle, and recommends additional needed service.
  • Advises customers on the care of their cars and the value of maintaining their vehicles in accordance with manufacturers' specifications.
  • Provides a complete and accurate written cost estimate for labor and parts.
  • Establishes "promised time." Checks with dispatcher, if necessary.
  • Establishes customer's method of payment. Obtains credit approval, if necessary.
  • Checks on progress of repair throughout the day. Contacts customers regarding any changes in the estimate or promised time, explains cost and time requirements in detail, and gets proper authorization before any additional repairs are performed.
  • Reviews repair orders to ensure that work is completed, and additional work and authorization is noted. Closes repair order as appropriate.
  • Handles telephone inquiries regarding appointments and work in process.

Education and/or Experience

  • Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • DealerTrack experience (Preferred)

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Full Job Description 

-Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
-Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair.
-Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
-Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
-Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
-Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
-Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
-Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician.
-Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools and events.
-Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
-Supervises work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
-Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
-Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
-Keeps shop area neat and clean.
-Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received.
-Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
-Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
-Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
-Other tasks as assigned.

Full Job Description 
  • Formulates and maintains quality control objectives and coordinates these objectives with other managers.
  • Analyzes statistical data and product specifications to formulate dealership standards.
  • Minimizes comebacks by conducting spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
  • Investigates and corrects customer complaints regarding quality.
  • Inspects all recently purchased and comeback vehicles to ensure proper correction and condition of vehicle.
  • Meets daily with dispatcher and service manager to determine if any recurring problems need to be addressed.
  • Inspects all repair orders and ensures that they include complete documentation and that proper warranty procedures have been followed.
  • Understands and follows all applicable federal, state, and local regulations on hazardous waste and OSHA Right-to-Know.
  • Maintains professional appearance.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
