BMW builds the M340i in two state-of-the-art manufacturing plants:

-Munich, Germany – BMW’s historic headquarters. This factory is where many customized or premium builds are assembled, including models with BMW Individual colors, xDrive all-wheel drive, and special accessories.

-San Luis Potosí, Mexico – This modern plant handles most of the production for North American markets, including standard M340i models. Don’t let the location fool you, BMW holds every plant to the same elite performance and quality standards.

VIN Tip: Check Where Yours Was Built

Want to know where your M340i was made? Check the first letter of your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN):

A “W” means it was built in Germany

A “3” means it was built in Mexico
